Perry Hall - On Feb. 23, Pat Soukup (nee Celesky); beloved wife of Jerry Soukup; devoted mother of Jerry Soukup and wife Andrea, Thomas Soukup and wife Debbie, Michael Soukup and wife Cindy; loving grandmother of her step-grandchildren Joshua, Matt, Alexis and Seth.
Pat and her husband were very involved in the Perry Hall Recreation Council since the 1950s. She has been honored as a Perry Hall Citizen of the Year (2011) by the Perry Hall Improvement Association for her contributions, notably selling hot dogs and advocating for the concession stand at Perry Hall Elementary School, nicknamed “Pat’s Shack” in her honor. Just last month, she and Jerry received a Baltimore County Council citation recognizing their decades of service to the community and naming the park planned for Honeygo Boulevard and Joppa Road in her honor.
County Councilman David Marks, who sponsored the resolution, said, “Pat Soukup was a force in the Perry Hall Recreation Council for more than six decades, beloved by thousands of children and their parents. She and her husband Jerry did more for parks and recreation than anyone else in our community’s history. Soukup Park will be a permanent tribute to this amazing husband and wife team.”
Visitation was held at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 25 and 26. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church (Fullerton) on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
