Jacobs, Gary Lee
Essex - On June 6, Gary Lee Jacobs, 69, a retired Baltimore County firefighter/paramedic, died at his home in Essex.
Born in Baltimore and raised in the Watersedge community in Dundalk, he was the son of James H. Jacobs, Sr. and Dolores Schmidt Jacobs, who preceded him in death. He was a 1963 graduate of Dundalk High School and attended the fire academy in 1968. He served with the Baltimore County Fire Department from 1968 -1994. In his retirement years, he kept busy with home renovations and, in 2005, returned to school to become a certified Maryland Home Inspector. In his leisure time, he enjoyed boating activities, especially catching, steaming, and sharing Maryland blue crabs; spending time with his dogs and traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his wife Micaela (Aigner) of Essex, daughter Jennifer Hansen, son Christopher, brother James Jacobs, Jr. of Middle River, sister Donna Rippon and five grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service was held at Back River United Methodist Church in Essex on June 13, with an honor guard provided by the Baltimore County Fire Department. Interment was private.
