Fitzgerald, James "Rabbi" -
Ocala - On July 4, James “Rabbi” Fitzgerald passed away at Tuscany Hospice House.
Born Jan. 28, 1933, Jim served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After the Army, he became a meat cutter for Big B Supermarket in Baltimore, and in 1967 joined the Essex Motorcycle Club as a lifetime member.
After retiring in 1991, Jim moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., but continued to spend his summers in Maryland. He worked part-time as a toll collector on the “World’s Most Famous Beach,” which he loved. In 2005, he moved to Ocala, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Thon Fitzgerald; his children Colleen Lake, Suzanne and Wayne Fitzgerald and step-daughter Tammy Parks and longtime friend Rosemary Mattheu. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Humane Society.
