Huffman, Uria Audrey -
Middle River - On May 31, Uria Audrey Huffman, 100 years and five months old, passed away at the Woodlands Assited Living Community in Middle River.
Born Dec. 10, 1914, in Calgary, Canada, he was a coal mine inspector in Raleigh county, W. Va., for many years before his retirement. During World War II, Mr. Huffman served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Afterwards, he worked for General Motors and retired to become a fruit farmer in the Van Biubber area of Abingdon, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Emory and Viola Kincaid Huffman; his wife Mavis Huffman, R.N. (who retired from Franklin Square Hospital); a daughter Audrey McKinney Goins of Beckley, W. Va.; three brothers, Carl, Avery and Pascal, and three sisters, Madge Stanley, Dana Craddock and Vivalore Billings.
He had many nieces and nephews, plus grandchildren from his stepdaughter Katie and her husband Jesse Chambers. Also survived by stepson Danny McKinney and his wife Carolyn.
Mr. Huffman donated his Coast Guard uniform to Bainbridge Naval Training Center Museum in the National Bank on Main Street in Port Deposit, Md. McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon will transport him to Garrison Forrest Veterans’ Cemetary on Thursday, June 11, at 1 p.m. for burial.
